Library Card Sign Up

September is Library Card Sign Up Month

Calling all Mont Vernon residents! Don’t wait for the new library to open to apply for a new library card…DO IT NOW! In preparation for the new library, the library staff will be signing up new patrons and reviewing all current library cards to update patron information. Do you have an old card? Don’t worry… old library cards will still be valid in the new library once updated and renewed.  Stop in the library during open hours anytime in September to sign up or update your card! Questions? You’re Invited!

The Daland Memorial Library Trustees invite Mont Vernon residents and supporters to join them at the site of the new library off Grand Hill Road on Thursday, September 12th at 6pm to break ground on the new library and make history! Come fill a luminary bag to help “Light the Site” and kick off the project. Refreshments will be served under the library event tent immediately following. Open to the public.

6:00- Walk up the new town road to the site off Grand Hill Road
6:15-6:45- Shovel ceremony and group photos
6:45- Fill and place luminary bag on site
7:00- Walk back to the library for a celebration under the library tent

Children welcome! Miss JoAnn has organized fun activities and snack for the kids. Hard hats, construction vests, sandbox activity with construction toys and hopefully HUGE trucks on site!

Parking is available at the Mont Vernon Post Office next to the site and along Grand Hill Road. The new construction road to the site will be closed to vehicles for the ceremony for safety.

Can’t make it to the event? Stop by the library anytime before Sept. 12th to decorate a white paper luminary bag to be added to help “LIGHT THE SITE” that evening!

JOB OPENING: PART TIME TEEN LIBRARY ASSISTANT

Daland Memorial Library

 

We are looking for an energetic, dependable, library assistant to help with all areas of library management.

6 hours per week. Must be 16 yrs. or older.

 

 HOURS: Wednesdays 5-8PM and Saturdays 10AM-1PM

RATE: $11.90

START DATE: Tuesday, Sept. 3rd

Hooks & Needles

Join the members of Hooks & Needles at the Mont Vernon Fire Department Community Room from 12-2pm for an afternoon of stitching.New members welcome!

Senior Movie Day

Senior Movie Day

The Friends of the Library are sponsoring a Senior Movie Day at the Wilton Town Hall Theater on Monday, August 15th at 2pm.  They have reserved the smaller theater for a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic “Rear Window”. Originally shown in 1954, featuring actors James Stewart and Grace Kelly directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Admission and refreshments are FREE!  For easy parking and accessible entrance park on Maple Street above the Main Street entrance.  All are welcome!

Good news!!  The Friends of the Library have secured a grant from the NH Charitable Foundation’s Amherst Label/Calvetti Fund to enhance the Summer Reading Program.  Miss JoAnn is so excited and will be using the funds from this grant to host a SPECIAL MOVIE EVENT on Monday, August 5th at 11:00AM.  

Mark your calendars and please join us for a special showing of Disney MOANA at the Wilton Town Hall Theater on Monday, August 5th.  

FREE ADMISSION, FREE POPCORN, FREE LEMONADE, and DOOR PRIZES!  THEMED COSTUMES ARE ENCOURAGED!! WIN A PRIZE FOR BEST COSTUME!!!

Awards for our TOP READERS will also be recognized that day.  See you at the movies!!
