NEW AT THE LIBRARY! Nintendo Switch Gaming Kit!!
Last month at the Library Trustee meeting,Souhegan High School student Paddy O’Keefe presented the idea of adding a gaming system to the library collection for patrons to borrow. He visited surrounding town libraries that offer gaming systems and spoke with librarians about needed equipment, costs, circulation, borrowing policies, and impact. He reported his findings as part of his presentation and gave a very persuasive pitch to add gaming to our collection. The cost of the total gaming kit with games was estimated at $1,000 which seemed prohibitive in this calendar budget. Paddy asked the trustees if he donated the entire starter gaming kit with games could it be added now as a prototype? The Library Trustees unanimously voted yes and the library staff has prepared the kit for checkout. As we move forward to the new library, with a designated space for teens and the vision of offering more services to young adults, we thank Paddy for all his research and generosity to get this new item added as a trial to see if gaming is something kids want to check out at the library. The Nintendo Switch Game Kit and selection of games are now available for check out as part of our Lending Library of Things that also includes a telescope, birding kit with binoculars, and winter sleds. Come check it out!
