This is an informal gathering of poetry lovers and new participants are always welcome! If you would like to share a poem, please bring it with you, but it is not required. We always have interesting and lively discussions and refreshments will be served.
The adult poetry group is back for the fall with a meeting on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00pm. Participants are encouraged to bring a piece of work to share with the group or a special poem about fall. Refreshments will be served.
Surprise Super Saturday was lots of fun!
“What was the SURPRISE?” you ask… well, we had two!
our activity — Push Pin Poetry, to celebrate National Poetry Month
our new Children’s Program Director — Sarah introduced the kids to JoAnn Kitchel before we all had some fun with poetry!
Miss. Sarah talked with the kids about poetry, read a few poems and then we had Miss. Mary Katherine and Miss. JoAnn recite their favorite kid poems from memory! What a treat! The kids got down to business and started clipping out words that they ended up using to create poems on their push-pin poetry boards.
If you missed the action and would like to try your hand at Push-Pin Poetry, we’ll have the board up in the library this week! Also, Sarah will post the word sheets and instructions so you can recreate this fun activity at home.
To inspire you, here are some of the poems that were created today:
words without wonder or learning.
shimmering knee. strong jellybean. imagine what you want to be. Just look at me!
magic, shimmering, very kind jellybean learned to squeak.
the whole world is shimmering with stars.
the summer was to soon to be true. It is sad. The sun in shining. The sky is blue.
delay job. almost blown up.
