The Library Trustees met Wed., March 22nd to discuss all the feedback we heard at Town Meeting. We listened. We hear you. We are working to identify areas where we could have been clearer in our messaging and in conveying project information. We will be contacting many of the groups and individuals in town who felt that their concerns were not adequately addressed to ask to meet and discuss their concerns.
The Mont Vernon Library Charitable Foundation is working to insure that the funding we have already raised will remain through 2024 and will continue to seek additional financial support for the new library through donations and grants. Because the project was voted down by the town, this becomes a much more difficult task and the potential for major funding may be diminished. The Foundation Board Members are ready to work diligently and creatively to identify and tap into new sources of project funding.
The Library Building Committee is meeting next week to evaluate their role over the next year and develop an appropriate action plan.
The Trustees would like to thank all of Team Library, our supporters, donors, Friends, Foundation, Building Committee, Daland Trustees and our library staff for all of the heart and soul that they have put into this project. We fell short by 20 votes this time, but we are by no means done. We could not be more grateful for the huge amount of support in the room at Town meeting and we are definitely not giving up!
