Through a combined effort of the State Library and our state’s electrical utilities, all public libraries have been given Kill-A -Watt meters for the public to borrow. Small libraries, like ours, were given 2 meters. Each can be checked out, just like a book, for a period of 2 weeks.
The Kill-A-Watt allows you to connect your appliances and assess how efficient they are. A large LCD display counts consumption by the Kilowatt-hour, just like your utility company. You can figure out your electrical expenses by the hour, day, week, month, even an entire year. Monitor the quality of your power by displaying Voltage, Line Frequency, and Power Factor.
